Hello,
I just tried it out but when i apply it to my objects they went to a red wireframe. I read that it could have something to do with the opengl or graphic card. But my 3ds max runs on DX9 and i have a gtx 285 so its sm3. How ever, when i render the scene then i can see the objects propertly but not in the viewport. kind regards LandsHeer |

I have problems using alpa maps with this shader. I see no button to load in a alpha mask, or how do i integrate the mask in my diffuse map?
kind regards OddEyes

Yep the transparency map is intergrated with the diffuse.
Got to add your transparency map to your alpha channel. (I think saving it as a Targa your best bet (I dont think Tiffs tend to work for me)) Then in the shader click on the tick box near the diffuse settings "enable alpha channel"

basically it worked, but now not every object is visible behind the alpha mask.

Hey guys, I've tried searching all over and it is probably just me who has missed a stupidly simple step, but I can't get this great shader to work properly with Maya (2011 64bit)! I am using the 1.5 version of this shader for Maya, specifically, of course...
I throw in my model, attach my maps, and I get nothing but a small portion of my model being lit. The rest is black! I DO have Hardware Texturing on, and am in "Default Quality Rendering" mode. What integral step am I missing here? I've tried adding every different type of light from Maya into the scene, but they do nothing. I am in lit mode as well, so I truly don't know what I am doing wrong here... I also have messed around with the 1, 2, and 3 "Number of Active Lights" setting in the shader as well, but to no avail... Can someone just push me into the right direction of how to use this properly for Maya? All I see is Max documentation, and barely any info for Maya! Thanks guys! |

Hey, I found something To bring to Xoliuls Attention about the whole Alpha transparency thing in 3Dsmax.
I was having trouble with them even after trying everything it said on you FAQ, but then I found this thread with one random piece of advice: Quote:
So, just bringing this up so that maybe you can add it to your FAQ page or something. Last edited by novaprospekt; 30-10-2010 at 02:13 AM. |
