hi

i just uploaded this video tutorial i did a while back, showing hardsurface modeling techniques. Although it is done in Modo it shows techniques that can easily be transfered to any other 3d modeling package.

HOLY GRAIL of free ebooks for games and modelling

Hey and Hi everyone. I'm about to share my Holy Grail on available free ebooks for game modelling and rendering and more.
PLEASE pay careful attention to how and where the actual downloads are as I show you. If you fail to pay attention
you will have to swim through a ton of advertising and misleading download buttons. so listen up!

There is this one site with a ton of free 3d models and some other useful things but what I found was like finding
a gold mine of ebook instruction on game art and things.

My first treasure find of MODELLING a CHARACTER in 3DS MAX by Paul Steed 1st'ed. in pdf Id like to share here:

On the web pages there are many huge buttons that say DOWNLOAD and DOWNLOAD HERE! IGNORE THEM!

If you scroll down about halfway in the fine print you will see a line that says: model download:
and it will be a .rar file of the .pdf ebook as is shown in my pic below:

The link is here:

Note the red star that I specifically am pointing to in my .gif IGNORE EVERYTHING ELSE!
THIS IS WHERE the ACTUAL Download is!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Modeling a Character in 3DS Max PDF" - 3d model

Now the site specifically states that I do not directly link the file for linking,or direct download so
out of respect for everyone I am just pointing you there and you can download it from
there adhering to there terms of agreement for posting links. or else I'd have a ton for ya.

If you scroll back to the top you will see a tab that says (3D Tutorials) and look at most viewed PDF ebooks in the dropdown selection THIS IS WHERE A MOTHERLOAD OF EBOOKS ARE! or view top rated ebooks, there will be different selections on different books.

There are many useful and very helpful ebooks in .pdf for free

here's some of the books you can get but remember what I showed you above to where the actual ebooks are on each page.

1.) 3ds max lighting PDF

2.) getting started in MAYA 2011 GUIDE .pdf

3.) 3DS MAX MODELLING for Games .pdf

Just to name a few...there are many more but this should get you started if you need learning materials.

I'd like to hear back from what you find and if they were useful and helpful. Thanks! share the grail!

With todays tech, I'd like to think with a tablet pad or whatever and a good ebook in a nice comfy spot would be great. there are other books I wanted to mention that I found interesting like the 3ds max bible, zbrush, maya, lightwave and photoshop. many great tools to create dreams and adventures to experience beyond conventional media. recently I've been looking into BLENDER and it's capabilities, I must say it has some neat features and has me intregued. Still I'm a 3ds max guy, and although I like and appreciate other programs I still find it not easy being in other places in and at the same time. maybe jack of all trades and master of none? there a few programs I like using and feel that are essential in creating 3d art and interactive applications and environments to experience.

Beyond the canvas and ink, to make and have your art come alive is what electronic electric art can be. example hey check out my new painting... yeah looks cool...all of a sudden lightning and smoke start pouring out of it....it's things like this that makes digital art fun and enjoyable.

Hello,

I of course would recommend my own website resource

(rhyming was mostly accidental there)

BLENDER annex2nothing.com

In particular I wrote a Blender/Maya modelling translation guide that might help some artists who need to make a switch either way to some extent.

Modelling in Blender & Maya annex2nothing.com

Hope you find the reference of some use! There's much more to come
Aidy

I second Paul Steed's Modeling a Character in 3ds Max, a great resource and well written.

Mastering Autodesk 3ds Max 2013 is a heavy read but covers several areas with a solid focus on various modeling techniques and modifiers.
