Hi guys, somehow I solved the Problem.
Dont know what I did, I checked and unchecked some Options and then it worked. Maybe it was caused by the "Rim Effect" like nfollmer said. But now another Question: Stefan Morrell said he is using Xoliul´s Shader, which supports Cubemaps. But I cant see the Option for Cube Maps. Am I just blind or is something wrong there? ahh sorry I'm using the 1.5 version of Xoliul´s shader which he sent via email.not sure f the cube map option is in the 1.3.

looks like 3dsmax always crashes if i try to start up Xoliul's Shader...
![]() any suggestions on how to fix it, there's no error and nothing else, 3dsmax just freezes. Edit: looks like the problem just solved itself. it just loads veeeery long. |

Hmm can't get it to work in max 2008. Everything just turns black. I put in a diffuse, spec, normal map and checked them. I set it to use a couple lights in the scene. Not sure what I'm missing. I tried reading through some posts here but couldn't find any fixes. Any ideas? My video card is a radeon hd 4800 so I should be able to handle this no problem.

Guys, That's what I said earlier: absolutely no guarantee that it works in 2008. Max 2008 is extremely flakey when using custom shaders with realtime shadows, blame Autodesk for this.
And yes this shader is very heavy so if your pc isn't too fast, it will load slowly.
