Starting Object.
Hi guys I've been modeling for a couple weeks now during my spare time and have made 2 models both of which starting with planes. Although I don't plan too for a while I was hoping at some point i would learn to model something organic (human/monster). I was wondering whether you guys start with different objects depending on what your modeling, and what you started with.

For objects, usually it's a box of some kind with as amny subdivisions as I think I'll need to form the major shapes.
For characters, I usually start with a cylinder around the waist and extrude up and down from that (although for different parts of the character, I may start in multiple places and join it up as I go). |

Well, I think a good thing to keep in mind though while shaping organic models might be a good idea to start out really with a really lowpoly model, then add edgeloops as you go about refining the shape of it
![]() Though, I guess it might not be the case for everyone.. we all have our own ways to model different stuff.. so a bit of experimenting is always a good idea seeing as you'll eventually find a way that you find efficient ![]() Myself though, I usually start modeling organic and complex shapes with a plane.. though.. I'm not very good at it ![]() Cheers
