xNormal - Normal Mapping Application

Anybody try this out yet?

Quote:
xNormal is a .NET v2.0 application that creates normal/ambient occlusion maps from a very high polygon model and fits it into a low polygon model. Supports tons of mesh formats ( including COLLADA 1.4 ) as well as multiple output image formats. Includes a complete 57 pages PDF help document too.

It comes with an OpenGL interactive viewer ( and some examples ) to see the final result.

yup it's really easy you just select the low poly version, select the high poly version, type in the map size and then wait 30 seconds =).

I'll have to try it on my hand model, it has some complex parts that requires some manual alterations via 3ds max, maybe I won't need it with this, will let you guys know

its good at handling seams, I've used it to bake occlusion before and it worked well for that. It just takes a little longer to setup than Maya's baking tool, but overall it does a better job

Send off a bugreport to the author, from what I've heard, he's really listening to the users and will also respond fast.

That's what I heard over at polycount anyway

Funnily enough, I'm receiving a strong normal map from using the same mesh for low & high (was just testing). Wierd I guess you could call it?

xNormal v3.9.3 mapper ( updated )
Weeee, finally completed the new version 3.9.3 of the xNormal normal mapper tool.
This application creates DOT3 bump mapping textures from a very high polygon model and to fit it into a low polygon one.
You can download it in the projects section as usually.
