hmmm. I think I had trouble with the older verion too, which is why I suggested using version 2.0

What are you computer specs (video card, windows version, ram)?

Also, how did you install the 2.0 script?

Ok that's what I thought. You have a very old system. You only have shader model 2.0 and I think you need at least 3.0 (probably 4.0) for any real directx shaders to work.

Xoluil shader 2.0 definitely won't work on those specs, and probably 1.6 for the same reason.

The best thing you can do is to use the shaders already in max. And from the autodesk site I found this about 2010 that you are using:

*Some features of 3ds Max Design 2010 are only enabled when used with graphics hardware that supports Shader Model 3.0

Not much else you can do other than getting a new computer

Thats really what I thought this was...I just didnt wanna face that reality haha. Welp, I'm broke as broke will ever be so a new pc is out of the question...

However, Im saving all of my models to a flash drive, if I was to get a new PC like...probably next year at this rate..and I just open them in like 3ds max 2012 or somthing and using xoliul's shaders, will everything check out ok? Or would I haveto remodel everything? Kind of a dumb question but I wasnt sure if I'd havto rebake my maps or anything

Nope you aren't using an ancient version of Max so it should be ok.

bump...
now i cant see my model in the 3d space..what is up with this xoliul shader?!

ok seriously, wtf is the issue. Ive uninstalled/reinstalled max 4 times. Installed this shader. Even BOUGHT a new computer to use it and this is STILL happening.

Ive watched the install video, Ive read the help and NOTHING shows up.
the .fx files are in the map folder,
all the directories are correct, the images are in the correct folders but the buttons in xoliul's ui are just blank white boxes and I get nothing but maxscript errors.

anybody got an idea??

Are you using DirectX and not OpenGl?

Can you use other .fx files (included with max)?
