Maya rigging

Hello,

I am currently rigging a character and was wondering if there's an easy way to duplicate his arm / leg since they are the same. I know how to mirror the joints but I was wondering if I can mirror the animation helpers as well.

(If I simply group, duplicate and mirror it it'll lose all connections. )

The best way to mirror the controllers is to write a MEL script. There are many different ways to connect rig controls so whatever your method is to connect the controls on one side look at the script editor choose echo all commands as you will get a print out of everything you did so you can copy and paste it into a custom MEL script then edit it for the other side of the skeleton. There are many tutorial on this just google it. Also check out tech-artists.org there is a ton of useful info there as well.
