3Ds Max backface culling problem
I am running 3Ds max 2012 and it would be helpful to have backface culling on, but it just doesn't work when I select it through object properties.
I have a pretty good rig, running Windows 7, 12 gigs of ram. ATI Radeon HD 5770... Any ideas? |

Have you tried different shading options? Realistic/shaded. Hardwareshading on/off? Nitrous on/off
EDIT: ATI Catalyst the newest one? May try an older version? Last edited by Mr.Cash; 08-08-2012 at 04:18 AM. |

Found the solution. It seems like having the Nitrous drivers on were the problem, reverted to Direct3D and that worked.
Only people is that I don't get the nice features of Nitrous (realistic shading, shadows, etc).... Edit: Seems like backface culling with Nitrous is a known bug (although it seems to just slow down max and doesn't make it not work at all, as in my case). Guess I'll just have to live with it for now....or go back to Direct3D if I have to. Stupid. Last edited by swag; 08-08-2012 at 01:36 PM. Reason: update |

It is kind of stupid they'd release the nitro driver with it being so buggy, you'd think they'd test it more being a main feature.

Found a solution to this problem more or less by accident.
You can just select "Hidden line" in the top left corner where you can switch from realistic, shaded, wireframe, etc. It seems to work, although it's more annoying as you have to go select it everytime, or make a hotkey. |
