lightmapping issue
Hey everyone, Short question here. I've been taking on lightmapping and what it has to offer for games. I am able to render the lightmap put in material 2, but when I render the scene the lightmap doesn't show.
Oh and I'm using 3dsmax and after I get the lightmap I delete all of the lights. Is this correct? Thanks everyone. |

In general a light map, or ambient occlusion map is rendered out and then added over the top off your models color texture as a multiply layer in photoshop.
However if you are creating a light map for an entire scene /level of a game then depending on the engine you are using light maps can be generated for each item in your scene on to a secondary uv channel . So if it doesnt show up visible its because you haven't applied it correctly. You need to do this manually. Its not something that occurs automatically. |
