3ds Max 2012 Viewport Problem
My problem is textures become inverted for some reason after I unwrap for a while:
![]() I guess it's a problem with Nitrous since if I change to DirectX problem goes away, but problem with DirectX is it's too slow for me. I simply can't work with it. Again, restarting 3ds Max fixes the problem, but it happens after a short while. And this is not a convincing fix since it takes ages for 3ds Max 2012 to start. I had this problem before and after reinstalling Windows 7. Windows 7 32bit, 2gb ram, 8600gts 512mb, core2duo 3.2 ghz. Thanks... |

Since version 2008 3dsmax (mudbox as well) are leaning more and more toward workstation GPUs like the Quadro. Game level cards were never designed for heavy use of openGL. 3d apps have always favoured these kinds of cards, but I've seen more and more compatibility issues since Max 2008.
Short answer is you have to live with it. I run in DirectX mode and don't have any speed issues with it, but Im using version 2009 and running in 64bit. The short but expensive answer is to get yourself a Quadro card. If thats out of your budget (as it is for most people...) consider getting a better game level card like a GTX 200 series - This is unlikely to fix your display issues with OpenGL, but it will probably improve directX performance. Long answer is you can mess around with driver and viewport settings and you MAY find a combination that works. This usually means legacy drivers, which may affect any games you like to play. |
