Environmental terrain texturing problem.
Hi all. Like most things I struggle with this is a really simple thing. I am having trouble making my terrain textures in UDK look right when compared to the other objects in the scene.
![]() this is only one layer so far but the colouring just doesnt seem right. Im getting there slowly by trial and error but I was wondering if there where any rules of thumb to bare in mind when trying to get textures to play nice together in a scene as so far this is taking a long time, longer than I think it really should. cheers |

Hey Artist-in-a-box,
![]() Are you trying to have the foreground dirt layer to match the background dirt layer? And is that blue rolling over the tops of the hills? If you are using the terrain editor in unreal 3 UDK editor, I would suggest checking out Hourences website. I am also doing the same at the moment. Hourences.com – Tutorials – UE3 Terrain

I think your ground texture could be desaturated a bit. Also remember normals. Don't try and match textures when you have lighting on. Thirdly, more texture layers on your terrain - some sort of loose rock texture to blend with your rock walls would go a long way to improving the look.
