3D on a laptop?
Hi guys
I'm thinking of aquiring a laptop to do some freelance work away from home - sadly, I'm not very good with hardware, but someone suggested getting an alienware gaming laptop - would you recommend it, or some other laptop? I'll be working with 3ds max and photoshop mainly, and perhaps some video-editing and high-poly modelling in Sculptris. Any advice is highly appreciated! =) |

I'm doing 3d for about a year and a half on my laptop now, didn't really have any problems until now.
got a 700€ dell notebook (reduced from about 1000€) but you should get a way better notebook for the same price right now, but i would not recommend alienware, they are waaaay overpriced. you should check out asus, they make damn good laptops. dell is good aswell, but they are also overpriced. except if you get some kind of special deal like i got. |

I have an alienware laptop from school. So far it works fine. Not as good as I originally thought they would be though, but it handles 3ds max and photoshop cs5 fine. But like svelle said they are way overpriced. I've had good experiences with asus and acer and they are much cheaper. Try to look for something with 4+ gb of ram. 500gb+ hdd space. and if you can, an i7 or i5 processor.
