UDK - mesh turns black after building all

Hi Guys,

I downloaded the latest version of UDK, imported my mesh and created a basic material (diffuse in the diffuse slot) and then whack a quick light in, saved the package and map file and built all... and the mesh just remains black?

any one got any ideas??

I would try building everything separately with lighting last and seeing what happens.

Or even just building the lighting after building all.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but have you used UDK before?

Flipped or messed up normals on mesh export maybe?

Incorrect lighting channels set on the mesh in the editor?

It should be set to recieve light in the 'static' and 'dynamic' channels by default but something may have messed up.

Have you tried applying one of the materials that come with the UDK to it to see if that works?

If you like you could also save the mesh and material into a package file and upload it on here, I'll take a look at it in my editor and see if the problem still occurs.

Yes I have used UDK before, but it has been a while

I have checked the static and dynamic lighting channel and all are fine, I have given my mate the ASE. and it worked fine in his editor. Even with the default material applied the object disappears once the lighting has been built.

Im going to see if I can a quick look at work and see if it works here, and if nothing I will upload the package and see what happens on yours Perfecto, and thanks again for this

Have you tried it on an older build? I know since it's a beta they are constantly adding new features but sometimes they break things.

I've personally experience 'vertex painting' broken in March's build and the AO/shadows broken in June's build.

I was on the May build, but then downloaded the latest and it had exactly the same issue

I'm noticing bunches of weird errors in this latest UDK as well. Check your graphics driver. Sounds like a bug to me. You've already tried anything I'd suggest.
