Maya to Unreal Editor - Workflow tut/tips needed
Hi everyone,
This is the first time I start a discussion here. I am an environment artist but I don't have experience on next-gen environments, in the the game industry I've always created assets for Wii productions so I have a good knowledge about old-gen workflows/limitations etc. Now I decided to start workin on some new personal stuff, using Unreal Editor and obviously I am following differents video tutorials... What I would like to ask you is something more related to the environment creation workflow from Maya to Udk. Do you know any tutorial strictly related to the subject issues, that cover for example a complete mini-environment project beetwen maya and Udk? Thanks |

Not worth 60 bucks though when you get most of the info for free other places really. Also it doesn't really cover setting up assets in Maya before hand and what needs to be done to get the best results within the editor. It's more of a introduction into UDK itself.
As for the original subject, there are quite a few out there that cover distinct parts of what you are trying to achieve but not all one overseeing tutorial from start to finish. If you know the differences between max/maya and can find way around maya easily then 85% of the UDK tutorials will be handy as they explain the basics of what is needed to start. Hourences' Community Site - Books - Tutorials - Jobs - Textures Pretty much the don when it comes to UE3 and UDK, allot of tutorials on how to do lots of things there. UT 3 Tutorials loads to start off there about the editor itself. 3D Tutorials, video game tutorials, ut3 tutorials Another decent list of different tutorials from creating assets (and implementing them) and explaining why less polys for UE3/UDK isn't always the best way to do things. Recently added a ton of UDK tutorials covering allot of different topics, this with hourences would be your first port of call. |

Thanks for the useful links. I am actually following the Gnomon introduction to Unreal but it's just a general introduction to the Editor.
Anyway the links you provided gave me a lot of different tutorials that exactly cover the topic I was searching for. thanks a lot |
