Sorry I will try and be clearer. Basically you need to rig your character to the default valve rig in-order to use the animations provided. Because source uses a skeletal animation system the animation files just move the bones in the rig. Hence when you rig your model up to said rig the animations work right off the bat. Then you just export your model rigged to the valve rig to a reference.smd (used by the .qc to get the mesh). Then you write your .qc file to include all the animation .smd files into the final model the .mdl.


If you need the valve rig you can obtaine one by inporting a reference smd from a different character then deleting the mesh. Or if you use XSI you can get one from the valve source plug-ins.

Now when writing .qc files I recommend you look at the examples included with the sdk and also used the dev wiki as a reference. Or you could use some of the gui programs available for download. For example ducttape.

IchII3D : It's like you said, the Source engine isn't at all a user friendly engine, it could be a little tricky, im not the technical type of artist, so i want to improve and explore that area.
Its a long way!
