Help! Problem with unwrapping
Ive recently started modeling an army combat knife - however when i approached the unwrapping of the model, everything was going fine until i reached the "teeth" on the top of the blade. I'm having trouble figuring out how to unwrap this part of the blade and i was wondering whether i could have some suggestions on how people think that this part of the blade should be unwrapped.
Here are a couple of of quick renders of the troubled area: http://i712.photobucket.com/albums/ww130/swindonjelly/01_test.jpg http://i712.photobucket.com/albums/ww130/swindonjelly/02_test.jpg http://i712.photobucket.com/albums/ww130/swindonjelly/03_test.jpg Any help is greatly appreciated! I'd unwrap the blade in two halves. You should be able to get away with a straight-up planar projection and then tweak the verts out a little so that you can texture the sides that get caught perpendicular to the planar map. There'll be a wee bit of stretching but it shouldn't be noticeable.
You could optimise the model a fair bit, too. Remove the central edge loop and probably make the serrated teeth floating mesh elements. |
