General normal baking smoothing groups.

Should I use any smoothing groups on my LP or HP when baking in max? If so, under what circumstances.

Generally you want your low poly to have just 1 smooth group.

High poly is at your own discretion (I'd say not, but you have to make sure any hard edges you want are modeled in with a little bevel).
