One thing I still wonder about: Jon says he hates portfolios all split in 3D lowpoly characters, 3D highpoly characters, etc.. Does he mean splitting it up in too many sections then? Because I think in my case I would want to show my 2D painting and drawing work (that sumea article mentions it frequently as a bonus), but it's not quality enough (like Pior's) to just put it between the 3D stuff.

If it's concept art for your 3D model, I'd keep it with the model so that the concept and model can be seen at once and compared (same with any relevant textures and wire shots).
If it's standalone stuff - and there's enough of it - I'd give it it's own section. Being a competent 2D artist is a real bonus ![]() |

Hey guys, another question from me:
Once my brother has done my website, I want it to be low maintenance, no messing with html to add new images and projects to it, I want a nice php admin panel where I upload the images, add the description and category, and done. So my brother found this system, Pixelpost, and this is sort of exactly how I want it to be: bad arrow photography :: Portfolio :: 908.500.0403 Do you think something like that is ok ? It's not like that ridiculous Lightbox javascript that seems to slow everything down, and it's definitely not as bad as any Flash. |

Yes it's a slow server here as well. I mean the popping up and sliding open thing lightbox does, plus only showing the image when fully loaded being annoying.
Anyway a friend offered me to custom code a PHP gallery thing since he says it's really simple what I want. That is even better than using some pre-made solution that would be bloated in comparison. |
