Hey, wow, thanks for all the comments, guys!
It's been something like a year since I wrote this and I'm still surprised at how much people still appreciate it. It was a lot of fun for me to write, and makes me want to do more.Out of curiosity, what other subjects along these lines would you guys like to read about? I'm thinking of what sort of article writing to do next and would love to hear what you all think. |

Oink, showreels, that's a good idea. I don't see a whole lot of those though, but I think I'll keep that idea on the stove for a while as I find them. I like that.
I'll also start flagging portfolios I like. ![]() SupRore, how do you mean that, exactly? |

Ah, nevermind. Along with being unclear my suggestion was really too specific, and not really worth the focus of an article. Back on the subject at hand, many of the requests here are already (at least partially) adressed in the other articles on Jon Jones' website. Even if they don't cover your specific request, I found all four of his spotlight articles to be worth the read: http://www.thejonjones.com/jons-most-popular-articles/ |

For those looking for other examples of portfolios:
1. Benoit 'b1ll' Regimbal: http://www.benregimbal.com/ This is THE perfect example of simple, professional portfolio where the artist lets his art do all the talking. It's a single page, loaded with full examples of great work, contact information, resume and nothing more. Benoit is a fantastic example of the traditional game character artist. 2. Paul 'MoP' Greveson: http://www.ldaustinart.com/paul/ Another character artist, with a bit more of a web site than what b1ll has, but still presents his porfolio in the same fashion of "everything you need to see up front". As in, the user doesn't have to go past the main page of his portfolio to see everything they need. |

Thats fun talking about portfolio and such but do you guys no some good web host to .. well host theM?
free or cheaper would be best since we are not business. i foud an hosting over at http://www.sherweb.com/cghosting/index.php wich look interesting. any other suggestion? no tripod, geocity or multimania please . i think since we want to sell ourself for a job we dont want our visitor be flooded by publicity no? Also another desesperate solution would be to host it on your machine as a server. someone use this method or is it to insane to be useful? Last edited by Daedalus; 17-09-2006 at 01:27 PM. |
