i get my best achievments with the overlay layer mode. The only thing that you will notice is that it doesnt get as shiny as you want it to be. Simply duplicate the layer then and you have a very very nice highlight that is not destructive.

Great tutorials
A quick tip for getting UV's with a transparent background without worrying about masks etc. Simply save your UV's out of 3dsmax as a PNG. When you open in photoshop, the UV's will be on a seperate layer

Texture Stretching problem

I have been trying to follow this tutorial as exactly as possible (so that if any mistakes are made, they would be easier to correct), but I seem to be having a problem with my texture stretching at the corners of the gun.



My UVs are similar to Stormy's at that section, but even when I move them it doesn't seem to help much. Also there is a strong hightlight at the corner...not sure what is causing that (it's not the texture).

Any help would be appreciated!
