Wow thanks for part 2 d/l now. part 1 was very helpful. How would you model the knuckle part that pulls back on a Luger? I got to finish the grip and the trigger guard but the kuckle thing confused me and I really want to animate it. I can't wait to finish this because I haven't seen this gun in source yet.

What you really want to do is have a seperate piece of geomatry for each moving part of the weapon but only one object. All of the movment of the mesh will be done through bones. Keeping your mesh as seperate elements means its a lot eaiser to rig once your texture is compleat and your ready to start animating.

Stormy I freaking love you man! The source engine is fun(unless compared to the Euphoria engine) and modeling custom weapons was something I've wanted to do for a while so thanks a million! Now if we can just get those damn ani tuts up then the cycle will be complete but patience is key, so either way thanks for the tuts and helping everyone out!

I've mentioned this in my introduction, but i thought it would be better if I said this here as well. I have struggled with max's UVW unwrapper for quite sometime now. Now i have only watched the first 30 min the first video. but I gotta tell you, in only watching that 30 min. I have learned more and understand the unwrapper more than I ever have before. I just wanted to say thanks for such a fantastic tutorial, here's hoping the texturing is just as good
