thanks for the article! it has helped me some. i turn off my messengers and the need to go and constantly check them to see who is on was gone and that left over focus was put towards my modeling. most of the time i work with music playing, but sometimes i just need to shut it off. i dont think i could unplug my internet like jake suggested because im always poking around on the net trying to find reference images/textures/tutorials etc.

a pretty good guide also i was just wondering this may sound stupid
but won't more sleep waste time when your doing something productive i mean if your about to complete a model which will take another 4 to 5 hours you'd rather complete it than go to sleep because some people tend to loose interest if they get distracted due to something i'm one of those people. i have a huge archive of incomplete models which are almost on the verge of completion but i lost interest when i saw something else and that hooked me to it. thanks requiem2d for this guide |

Good article. I have to admit i can be quite unproductive at times, with Gmail chat running, my email open, and my browser on CGtalk and Plime!
However, i have to differ about the earphones. I find it much easier to switch off when I'm listening to streaming audio or my MP3 player. But then again, I work in a studio environment, with people coming and going the whole time. It is very easy to get distracted when there are human elements involved! |

I've been listening to audiobooks the last week or so, and my productivity has shot through the roof.
I love music, but the type of music I listen to is generally picked by my mood. Audiobooks are great for when I can't decide on picking music :P It might sound silly, too, but any commentary with Brad Bird always gets me amped for work. Same with James Cameron's commentaries. Listening to visionary creators that're really on the edge of pioneering film making, it's really difficult to not want to push on with your work. G

This is a real help, thanks a lot! I want to start working on something almost every day, but something always keeps popping up and I keep postponing it. This will definitely help me.
By the way: is there a to-do program that can be saved on the computer, so you don't have to go online to look for your to-do list? |

I agreed with some of the ways, but i always have my tv on in the background but my desk faces the other way to my TV so i can only here it.
I also always have my internet browser open as, it is good for information and picture when you want to look something up, when you modeling or texturing! ^_^ |

Whoa.
These tips are helpful. Seriously, thank you. Although I do not know if I will be able to do some of these tips, since my computer room is right smack in the middle of the family room with at least 5 other people on their individual computers, it'll still be very hard to concentrate. People walking by, looking over my shoulder, and the worst part is, there's no other bloody place to put my computer! Urgh. It may just be me, but I find earphones and/or headphones distracting anyways. I have to have my stereo on if I were to have music. And thank goodness that I have learn to survive in this world without a cellphone. That takes a load off for sure. Thank you again, Requiem2D for the article. |
