My opinion regarding deleting backfaces is not to do so when just making a simple model like this, because you can use the same model for the world view instead of having to model a new one. An extra 500-1000 polies won't really affect your fps at all anyway.

Download the video
Hey all, first off stormy great tutorial.
RequieM the creator of this great site submitted it to Mod DB. Anyhow since it took me 1 week to download the damn files, I decided to package them all up and make them easy to download. The link is here: Mod Making Tutorials Creating a Weapon for Source Modelling > Weapon Models Hope that helps, oh and go easy on our servers, 800meg video aint easy to provide! |

Seriously awesome tutorial, many thanks and kudos. This has gotten me interested in 3D modelling again. I'm trying to follow it along and model a toy pistol I have (like a Colt 1911 or something) just for the heck of it, and it's a lot of fun. Can't wait for the next installment.
My current progress for interest. Just the main bit of the gun so far, minus some details. ![]() As you can see I'm spammin' the polygons like I just don't care. You can also see this is my first attempt. ^^' If anyone else in or near Australia is after the tutorial, it's being mirrored on the Internode Games Network as one big archive. |
