What exactly are you doing to round out the corners of your selections?
Also, do you mind giving the brush you use for the paint (edge) wear? I'd like to have a different one than the one I have. Plus I am too lazy to try to make one :P Otherwise thanks for the video.

I use either the rounded rectangle tool, either I make my selection as seen in the video, and then I rounded to pixels per pixel !
Ahah, I would make a short video to show how to get my brushes :DD (I will provide the .abr file) Thank you ! I'm now preparing a new video, but continue to like this one, it always makes happy.. :-)

For edge worn, dust, and actually any texture layer you want to add up to your base color, there's now dDo to help (no need to add edge effect by hand anymore !
) :dDo - Instant texture bases, straight in Photoshop | Quixel Nice timelapses anyway, thank you. @swag -> there's also the possibility to smooth selection (select menu -> modify -> smooth) or to use right click on the selection -> refine edge sometimes. For an edgeworn brush, you can just take an alpha that's slightly detailed on its edges from photoshop and create a brush with a tight padding, a slight scatter, and mostly size and direction variation. You can then use a dual brush to lower your stroke thickness easily. Last edited by Valerien; 21-12-2012 at 02:18 AM. |

Sorry to thread hijack here, but I tried looking into and playing around with dDo and I think I'll be skipping on that tool.
Seems interesting at first, and it looks like it could be useful for setting up base materials, but to use it to texture a whole model seems like a stretch. Also if a lot of people use this tool then models will probably end up looking the same. Anyway it still looks cool and useful, but not enough for me to buy it. I'll play around with it some more just in case. However I will be getting nDo2 very soon, that looks very useful.

Even if it is sold as an automatic texturing tool, it really isn't. It's a list-based procedural texture generation (while substance or genetica are graph/node-based). Therefore it's useful in order to create some tedious effects, anything that's directional, that requires edge detection, ao gathering... just like ndo, ddo is simply doing a lot of photoshop operations that you could do by hand.
