Article: The Making of DC Metro Station in UDK

This report was originally made in dutch for the ‘free assignment’ (vrije opdracht) as part of my Industrial Design course at the University of Twente. The free assignment is a project in which the student states his own goals and rules. I chose to make a game environment in UDK. This English version is slightly edited and aimed more towards
fellow 3d artists. I hope you will like it and would love to hear any comments.

Yes, amazing tutorial. I loved fallout 3.

Sadly i have a temptation to start a project and think it looks horrible before ever adding detail and it destroys my motivation

Yes i would really like to get some comments and critics on my workflow(s). Also please tell me what you liked and didnt like about my report, I'm sure there's a lot to improve (although I probably wont re-edit again).

@Frell, be sure to keep things small and not too ambitious. Just like i stated in my report, i felt i had concentrated too much on quantity and not on quality in my scene. Also, try to break everything down into little pieces so u can progress bit by bit.

Excellent article, thanks for sharing this.

Your explanation of the modular design was well done, the pictures in this case really help to illustrate the idea.

Personally I would have prefered a little more explanation about how you added detail in Zbrush to that stone bench, but I am mostly asking because I have little Zbrush experience (of course I could find it online easily enough).

Is there a certain reason why you kept the faces on the modular pieces that you would never see?

Seems like a waste to me.
