Ack, this was a nightmare for me. Once again took longer doing things than I expected meaning that I had to really rush my specmap and didn't get time to detail my diffuse properly. Curses.

I spent 20 minutes creating a really simpe high poly and baking it on. I then pissed off for a cup of coffee, came back, cleaned it up and realised it would have been quicker just to do it in PS. Oh well. With normal and AO done I got cracking on the diffuse. Diddled around with some filters to produce some vaguely woody looking thing for my base, then promply photosourced some planks and duplicated them. Next was creating a quick metal texture and the roof texture. I then spent a bit of time arsing around getting my wood looking passable and had just enough time to do some hasty rust (really not happy with how that came out) and paint on some grunge. I then realised I was running really low on time, so knocked up a quick specmap. I think I just work really slowly TBH. Anyway, render and maps below.

Realtime with Xoliuls shader :

If you're using Max then you can use this plugin here :

xoliuls-3dsmax viewport shader

Maya's "high quality" viewport mode will do it, then .

You can use a normal map. Bump maps aren't really for realtime usage, and you'd likely have to render out your final image - thus being against the rules of the comp
