I really liked Yoyomon entry. The only problem is that there isn't any proper lighting done to it which I think would of made it stand out even better. But overall the texture work looks unquie and I like the colors that were use.

Latin,

Nice contrast in the overall piece. I would of voted for Tiros, but I felt that a 2048 texture would NEVER be used in the industry for a prop such as this.

Great work everyone!

Zanrok: I am not going to judge your ability to judge, and everyone got different opinions on the matter of texture-sizes for the STC's. But I would just like to say, that what is a prop like this, other than a piece to practice texturing on?

And in that matter, I would say that texture-size is hardly an issue. I've only been texturing 1024's for the STC's for as long as I can remember. And even then, a 1024 was a bit overkill for certain models. But as you may know, texturing characters, weapons and props require different techniques. One may be good at texturing props, but a rookie as it comes to texturing characters.

This can also be compared to creating textures at different sizes, only the difference is not as big as it is with props and characters. But it's still there, and that is one reason I decided not to limit the texture-sizes for the STC's. Given that people may texture the models at a size they are not as used to, and therefore improving their workflow and ability to texture at different sizes.

Feel free to argue against me, although I will not have a debate on the matter. As I think, the size of a texture does not matter, but the quality of it.

Don't get me wrong however, I personally do not think that I should win this competition, and act like a sore loser because of it. I do think my texture is a good one, but it lacks those last minute details which really makes a piece pop. And therefore it's actually kind of boring.

All I want is simply to give my opinion on the matter while having a good:

Cheers!

LOL,

Tiros, I agree completely. I never said your texture was bad, in fact I said I would have voted for it. I am merely stating that in the industry, texture sizes for props have constraints. Yes texture sizes will vary from prop to prop, therefore it's an excellent idea to have the ability to use a large texture or a small texture ,especially for practicing!

Sorry to have come off harsh in my comment above. I am not trying to be a smart-a$$ or anything I am merely trying to help you guys achieve your goals to make it in the industry. Coming from personal experience I was robbed day in and day out when I worked on assets for my studio. I would make a solid 512x512 texture and then the art director would say to reduce it, often going as low as 128. Sad face.

So I hope you and no one else is offended. <3

Don't worry, you were not harsh, and I weren't offended. Nor did I take it as a comment on my texture being bad. I just felt like a good rant, while stating my opinion that texture-sizes should not be taken into account while voting. But as said, it's "my" opinion, and everyone's free to have their own

Sounds a bit like Zanrok is asking for a 128 limit
