Hoped I'd be able to join this one, had a pretty nice idea going on here already.. but seems that won't be possible. So, thought I might aswell share the refs I picked up
![]() http://img357.imageshack.us/img357/3712/elevatorpi7.jpg http://img83.imageshack.us/img83/530...torref1vh9.jpg Cheers, and gl to everyone! PS, if you think the model is too simple, it is just you who haven't got a good enough idea to get something out of it.. Be smart with it! ![]()

heh I fail!
The obj had loads of faces flipped in both Silo and Max9 when i opened it from the rar. Halfway through texturing realised there were still some faces facing the wrong way were the doors slide. Oh well. Hand painted, no photos. Drew a stripey pattern and tiled it for the walls, similar thing for the floor, then messed about with saturation etc. baked a lightmap. Metallic floor strip drew some lines and burnt em. Made a dot for screws and copied/pasted it everywhere. Used Wang Jings agusturin shader but it wouldnt make any odds which one I'd used. Didnt finish but good fun. A lesson in how not to do a speed challenge heh ![]() Not a serious entry so I wont bother submitting the textures, just thought someone might wanna see my attempt ![]() ps wanted to make it look like a grubby tenement style lift like the one I used to have at a place i lived 20 odd years ago ;-) |

Ah, I didn't notice anything wrong with it in max 9, after having imported the exported file.. guess I will have a look here and re-export it then.
As for the entry, it's not that bad at all man, would be nice to see you joining ![]() /edit: re-exported and uploaded it, may turn out rather small in scale for max-users as I used a maya preset while exporting.. nothing the scale-tool can't fix though. And now I'm off for a week, so if it fucks up, you'll have to ask ploon for the model ![]() Cheers!

ok well I did a 1024 texture, really could have shrank it to 512 without losing any detail. Wasnt sure if photo sourcing was allowed or not, so didn't use any. Will def enter next comp, cause this was great fun
took around 75min to texture 10-15min to set up in unreal and save pics ![]() |
