does...not...know...who....to...vote...for *head explodes*

i probably woulda given it to you barney if you had rendered and shown it better (or maybe those small tyres make it look better, im not sure)

might hold off my vote for now

I think Kyo's is amazing, loads of depth added to his texture. Only thing that lets it down is the sideways scratches on the rim, but still I think It gets my vote.

I don't really like his scratches, too flat and painted in too quickly.

Here's my feedback and my vote, that goes to Sampson:

Sampson

Great looking rubber. The texture itself doesn't look that much detail, but it simply works on the render. The Normal map looks absolutely stunning. Great render! The only thing I don't like is the blending between the tire and the rim. There should have been a little trim or something (spelling). I mean, the tire should alway be inside the rim, not outside. It looks like your tire is flat and they took it off the rim, if you know what I mean.
Beside of that, I really like your style.

Pumbaa

Nice design. I really like the 60's look in it. You've managed to give it the look within the time limit. Absolutely brilliant. The scratches however, felt a bit odd and noisy. Also you didn't finish the whole texture yet, even though it's not visible in the render. Nice job though

Stefan_Morell

The rubber has a bit too much noise. The profile looks pretty flat, even with the normal map. Maybe you should have exaggerate it a bit more. The outside of the rim looks like plastic to me. Kinda looks odd in contrast with the rest of the rim.

Kaskad

Way too much noise. Why did you do that? It really let your texture work down... Try adding dirt with a brush next time, because the noise makes it look very bad IMO.

Nooba

The profile has a naughty seam on the side. I would advice to make it fade out like lots of others did. It looks more natural then what you did now. I also don't like the green/blue light on the rim. Some bolts have way too much saturation and contrast on them. The sides look like they glow.

TwoOneOne

Nice texture work here. Very clean texture and great work on the rim. What I don't like, and why I gave my vote to sampson in stead of you, is the fact that you use a bumpmap.
It really lets your texture work down. The bolts and profile look very flat now. That's too bad and could have been done better with a normal map for sure.
Still, a very nice entry there!

(Oh a quick sidenote, the map link is wrong, I took yours from the other thread)

[hp]

I don't know why you have chosen the blue light. But it makes your rim look very weird. The spec map looks a bit too much I think.

Samgriffiths

It's a shame you didn't add the maps. The rubber doesn't feel like rubber to me. I'm also missing a trim between the rim and the tire. Same goes with the hole. There is no rust or damage around it, except for the rust that goes down the rim. You did do this on the front of the rim, but didn't do it at the back of it. That feels wrong IMO.

steelhazard

I wonder why you used your viewport screenshot as your main screenshot. I would have used the render in stead, since it looks way better. It's very hard to see the details on the small render you added.
I must say I like the texture sheet. The rim looks good, and your normal map is excellent. The contrast between the profile and the side rubber stroke looks a bit weird though. I would expect it to be the same rubber, but now it looks like it's different material.

Very nice entry though, but next time, please use the render as your screenshot! You might have convinced me then, and took my vote.

Fear

The contrast between the rim and the rubber is way too much. The white rim doesn't feel good in combination with the rubber. The normal map could use some more work as well, since its very hard to notice it in the render.

Barneyslayer

The texture looks blurry and could use a lot more detail.

Kingpin

Great normal map there. But the texture itself looks too messy in my opinion. The rubber has a bit too much noise I think.

kYo

Brilliant Rubber there mate! Absolutely the best rubber of the entry's. Though, I think it's valid to say that you spend almost all your time on the rubber and forgot the rim. The rim looks very flat in contrast to the rubber, and the scratches are pretty lame. This has probably to do with the fact that you spend almost all your time on the rubber, but a bit more balance would have been nice.
It is missing a normal map, but even without it, it looks very nice. Well done mate, I think you would have won if you got 30 more minutes.

That 250 min one looks totally awesome, but as said, invalid. Thats a shame

Ardeni

The rust uses too much spec if you ask me. Also I think your tire looks a bit too blurry. Nice idea with the holes, although I would not have made them perfectly round, since there is a lot of rust on the side of the holes, that could have changed the perfect round shape a lot.

Midgar

You only attached the diffuse map, but looking at the render your spec if way too much. The dirt looks weird and the rim looks blurry.

Nice entry's here, it was very hard to make a choice. Grats to everybody who entered!

I had to vote for kYo, such a nice tireprofile, but why the sideways scratches?

Because he wasn't finished yet
He finished it later, and it took him 260 minutes to complete his full version, which you can find here

This is not a valid submit though, but it shows what he is capable at

Oh damn, my render looks very dark here on my work PC, I guess I should have thought of that! xD

Damn, this week we got some really great entries, congratulations to EVERYONE!

thanks for the feedback!
though kyo used neither bump nor normalmap for his 80min entry
but no worries

my vote also went to kyo because even without bump or normal map the texture looks so convincing. And we can really see that much work went into the transition from tread to sidewall to which most of the other contestants didn´t pay much attention imo.

Cheers

p.s.: i used the forum attachment system, so the links should work. but somhow the wrong image is linked
