but yours is awesome too (and in time limit)! its a different type of tire but maybe it could also need the normals profiling more around the chamfered edge ? (im not a good describer lol)

anyway alot of nice entries so i agree voting will be hard
but again it was a great learning method so thanks to this community and Tiros for keeping those challenges alive l8er

Yeah, I agree. Now that I'm looking at it, I could have changed a lot of stuff, and made this and that differently, but it's hard to make a perfect entry in the time limit, there's where the challenge really is!

one thing that amazes me also, is the quality of your screengrabs! You use Doyles shader?
Also, what kind of lighting do you use? light blue and yelowish lights? Cos I always struggle with the last stepp of showcasing my work, a decent light set.

for lighting and stuff i put this zip together with a 3ds max file (2008) and the downscaled maps:

pretty simple setup basically.
i´d say the AO map for the ground is one of the most underrated tricks


i´d write a little more but now im already 3 hours late with sleepmode ._.

Holy ish kYo when I first saw that normal map applied on the lowpoly model I took for granted you modeled a highpoly model, but dang u didnt! As others said before me, simply splendid work there mate.

I get a huge urge for texturing something just looking at your maps

haha im glad if thats work out as a way to give something back.
in that short time since i registered i took alot from here like knowledge, technics or inspiration ^^
