Time to get crittin' then!

Everyone who textured the city mailbox: Doh, you all forgot the lid from which the mailman colects the mail!

Supposedly to be underneath the small strip running along the front of the mailbox.

Sarge: Well, to start off, I'd like to say you did a nice job on the normals, except from two things

You should prolly have left the note and the "wuz here" text out of the normals, as those things commonly wouldn't have much depth. For the note, I'd recommend having harder edges wwhere it's been torn etc. and then add a feint "Outer Glow" effect, on normal blending, 1px and black ofc

Then, let's move on to the diffuse. Hmm, imho it has a bit too much saturation and lacks detail. (Yes, I know you think I'm an arse now, heh ) Well, it's just that you added grunge that covers pretty much the whole thing, and therefore it gets rather bland all over.

Same goes for the specular, it's all pretty uncontrasty. But, don't worry mate, I still think you did a good job

Kamrat: Well, I don't have much to say about this one other than that you got too much contrast into it. Yep, contrast is good.. but in this piece, your mailbox was nice and sharp, with a lot of detail. While the wood came out a bit blurry and bland.. but, I guess it might have been due the timelimit?

Heh, let's not mention my woodtexture

Well, good job on this one!

JStrey: Nice one JStrey, but I got some crits for you aswell

As you said, the normals could've been improved, they're quite strong all over. Also, it lacks some saturation.. well, I guess this makes it look more realistic perhaps.. but.. imo, it looks like someone bleached it

Other than that you did a good job though mate, so no more crits there

I didn't forget the lid for the mailman, I just want to see him try to get my mail out of that tiny slot with his hand.

Then again there is a huge rust hole at the bottom so he could just pull it out there, but at the risk of getting cut by rusty metal.

Anyway yeah it seems I need to think a bit more about the object I am texturing while doing it since I missed such a huge part of the object. That was a really good tip that I honestly didn't think of till now so thanks.

Yeah, that's pretty much it. I spent too much time one the metal so I didn't have much time to fix the wood pieces. Whoops!
Thanks for the feedback!

So, gave the other mailbox a try. Tried to follow the theme I used last time and add a bit "art deco" feel to it. But, something went wrong and it ended up pretty crappy.. again

Tried to improve it but ran out of time.

Cheers!

Tiros:
If by "pretty crappy" you mean "pretty sweet" then I agree! It may not be as finished as you would like but what you did finish looks great. The only suggestion I might have is to add a little dirt around the embossed letters and design, usually dirt congregates in those areas.

Tiros; the texture is looking very nice but there is one thing that really sticks out and the is the "U S" writing it look as if the space is bigger than all the other spaces between letters on the mail box.

Sugarskull: Thanks mate, well.. perhaps not that bad, but overall it's nothing great really. It lacks that little extra detail that always comes by later on, after the 90 minutes

Still though, copper, bronze and gold ftw!

HollowIchigoBanki: I didn't think of separating those letters like that at first.. but, after finding this pic I though, what the hell and did so
