I'm not sure if this is a common problem, but I'm having a hard time un-rar-ing the files. It says "header is corrupt". Anyone have any advice? (If it's not obvious enough, this is my first attempt at participating... not off to a good start if I can't even un-rar the files... ).

Here we go!

I decided to use my own unwrap, so I only had 65 minutes to spend on the texture- I already knew what I wanted it to look like, so I jumped in and went as fast as I could. I painted out the basic shapes I wanted, then threw in a few metal and concrete textures and overlaid them until I liked the look. After that I just painted shadows highlights and details as fast as I could! I had no time for bump or normal maps, and my specular map was thrown together in a couple minutes so it's not that detailed. It hurts to stop texturing when you know something isn't done. ;_;

Time taken:
unwrap - 25 minutes
texture - 65 minutes

Maps used:
1x 512 diffuse
1x 512 specular

Surly the simplicity of the model will test the ingenuity of the texture artist?

I didn't get an email about this one, I have for previous challenges?

machaca8: Seems to eb working properly for myself, and the others aswell, so not quite sure what the problem is really *scratches head* I could always upload the file un-packed elsewhere though.

Wolfsage: That might be because this was a great fuckup on my part. Sorry to let you down all, the next one won't be this bad though, I promise

Cheers!

Got some time to do this.. working with what was there I did this, decided to go old school this time and just do diffuse and paint in lighting.

Basic process:

-Exported uvs
-Baked lighting map in max
-Created base texture
-Painted details

Pretty basic this time around.

Thanks, but I finally got it to work. Someone suggested trying 7zip, and it never occurred to m that maybe my un-rar-ing program was just messed up. *duh* Thanks, though!

Here is my entry, i could not really finish it properly as i cant use the AO bake function in 3d max at the moment.

I made the metal texture just using photoshop filters, the concrete was a photo of cgtextures, them i just used the dodge and burn too, and overladed scratches to add age.

This is my first submission for a challenge, well in fact it's actually my first post in total.
:P

I'm definatly not use to the short time period, and I'm still learning so that didn't help much. The decal's were something I made at the last minute so it wouldn't look as plain. I just used the custom shapes that come with Photoshop.

Overall it was pretty fun rushing to complete it in the time allotted and I actually learned a few things while doing it.
