Decided to jump into this yesterday... Hopefully I got in under the wire.

Painted the diffuse textures in Mudbox, no sculpting done, rendered in Blender 2.49b. No modifications to normal and occlusion maps. The diffuse texture is also applied to the normals channel to get the raised veiny stuff. The "pedestal" is the Dragon's Lair cave available for free download at DAZ.com

Although I was too late to come across this, I am still very interested in checking the model out and having a go at texturing. I notice you take the model download link down after the deadline of competitions. You could have some sort of archive of the models from the competitions, as it would help a great deal for people like me still trying to learn.

People who come across this website at a later date, after the competition has ended could still benefit from checking out these models. It's very difficult to find a resource which offers finished game art, for begginers to check out and experiment how diffuse/normal/spec textures work together.

Anyway great work on these! Fantastic work.

Cheers

Feel free to contact a model's creator, if you'd like a closer look at their model. If they agreed to be generous enough to contribute their model to one of these fine competitions, I'm sure they'd have no problem providing you with it.

Great work, everyone! This comp had a lot of participants, and many unique views on Richard's model. Give yourselves a hand
