What sign/billboard competition would be complete without a Wall Drug billboard?
![]() Reference Wall Drug sign. For those that don't know what Wall Drug is, here's a little snippet off the Wall Drug Wikipedia article: Quote:
![]() Here are my 3 maps. I started off in illustrator recreating the above reference sign. There are other cooler Wall Drug signs (like ones about homemade pie and free ice water in 120 miles), but I'm not as familiar with illustrator as I am photoshop, so didn't want to make it more work than it had to be. I didn't count my time in illustrator toward the texturing 'cause...well, everyone else seemed to be getting a downloaded image for the sign itself, and it took me a while to figure out how to warp the text like that. Once I had my sign I threw it over the top a sign with the previous words painted out. Then I cut up some wood texture off cgtextures for the boards, and added bolts and stains to both the sign and boards. I painted a mask for the paint and put a gray layer below it, adding some random noise/details to both. The specular was made re-using a bunch of layers from the diffuse, and same for the normal map (nvidia filter). Last edited by pantsburgh; 20-01-2008 at 06:13 PM. |
