hey everybody!
this is my first challenge and here's what i got in 90 mins: ![]() ![]() because the challenge seemed to me a bit easy ("hey, how hard can an exterior wall be?" ) and because i didn't want to work with photos yet again i decided to draw the maps from scratch but, alas, as soon as i got my hands dirty with the exponent map time ran out on me. incredible how fast 90 mins can pass when you're having fun. at least it's tile-able...well, i've learned a lot today and maybe next time i'll start with photos or at least references ^.^ and i'm looking forward to some great submissions! cheers! Had a blast doing this, went for a more sci-fi theme with this one
![]() ![]() ![]() WORK FLOW I quickly made a high poly for the wall and baked a normal map. The diffuse was mainly done without photos; they were only used for some dirt/grunge. Last edited by UnRated; 18-06-2009 at 01:43 PM. |

Okay, here is my entry, it took 90 minutes. I'm not overly happy with it, there is a lot more I could have done, and I wish I had a more solid idea. C&C would be great.

irishman- the biggest flaw i see is that your spec isnt showing up very well. its hard to tell (other than through the colors) what sort of material it is, where the gloss is, if the paint is glossy or not, etc. the diffuse looks good though, and your spec looks alright, but maybe tweak the shader settings.

I agree with you Mdale, I don't really have that great of a spec map. I wanted the bottom half to be metal, but it kind of turned out like concrete. Oh well, I didn't have time to tweak it properly, I think I spent too much time making the normal map.

My first ever GA comp and my first ever full texture done for 3d (so be gentle :P) Took allot longer than I thought at 86 mins (really pushing it hehe).
If I had more time I'd improve the specular map to give it more depth I think, but alas it's 'speed' texturing and I've learnt allot. ![]() and maps ![]() |
