With this being a new comp, here is a few answers to some questions you may be thinking about:
  • Finding refrence does NOT count towards the modelling/sculpting time.
  • You may create a basic base mesh, however this will count towards your modelling time.
  • You can use Zsphere.
  • You may use any program to do the modelling and/or sculpting.
  • You may do multiple entries if you want. However for the voting, each sculpt/model will be entered seprately, they will NOT be added together.
  • You may use as many subtools as you wish (or the equivalant)

If I think of more i'll add them.

Okay to start things off after contemplating on what to make and building a ref sheet. 45 minutes into the sculpt. WIP

Great start.

A quick obsevration (this may vary from your refrence),
I would say the nose and mouth want to join up a bit more, on chimps they don't seem to be a seprate feature so much.
Also maybe slim down the jaws width (front on veiw)

Refrence I was looking at:

Does it have to be an existing animal, or can it be completely fantasy?

Unfortunatly this one is existing animals only.
At some point there will be a topics where you will be able to use your imagination a bit more.

NOTE: added another bullet point to the question post (my post just after the rules)

Great feedback Skwiggles. I've come across some really varying sources of reference when it comes to chimps. Some images show a more prominent, separated nose whilst others as you have linked show a more smoother transition from one feature to the other. It's difficult to choose which to go with at times but I guess that's where we can take some artistic licence of sorts and blend the two together.

My whole block just took a blow and electricity was cut for a good 30 minutes and I lost around 25 minutes of work. I should have saved sooner and more often. In any-case, I've clocked in 1 hour 40 minutes which includes the lost time.

So this is what I have now.

@Kanga, thanks dude! Just got in the zone

Update: Think i'll leave it till tomorrow or when I next get a chance. Just had another power cut. Luckily I was playing Guild Wars 2 and not sculpting.
