Wow, cool subject
![]() Since i'm working on a robot project I could miss this one! I am seeing some cool stuff here in the thread! I made a sort of floating type of robot with a big screen on his belly and a camera eye. At the end I desided it would be some sort of tutor robot. Or something that gives tours or guides you trough places and keeps track of your stuff. But I'm not really pleased with the design. Workflow was pretty basic, the propellors are somewhat altered boxes and then cloned. The robot was made out of a basic sphere with cylinders added here and there. It's pretty funny to see that in the end you spend your time pretty different than you expect. ![]() My Comments and crits: @Feld Haha, now that's an original idea.I like the design, it's kinda simplistic and easy to understand. Also a pretty clean mesh! But since you have double the tri's left and even more time, I would say you coud've added a lot more detail and definition to it. Especially at the wheels. @armanguy Lol, that has a very wicked feeling to it... A toy full of explovises... I like the Tf style, very recognisable and I like that a lot about it. The only crit i have is that the landing device is very thick, somewhat too thick.. Too bad it's violent though... You should finish this one outside this competition! @KING-TAHARKA Wow, that's a very good looking robot. Has a lot of detail to it. Also a very nice design, very original. It also looks like you were very clean in your polydistribution. Like it. @Vamediah Haha, looks like it's made to bite your hand off. Woudn't want to put my stuff in there..:P Don't really have much to say about it, kinda wondering where all the poly's went? @Tim27 Now that's a bot I would want to have at home. =D Cool idea, and looks pretty complete. |

helperrobot1.jpg
helperrobotwire.jpg I was drawing up some sketches and my pencil broke, so my helper robot is a pencil sharpener. I had originally planned to go with 2 sets of servos (not sure if thats what they are called or not), but then decided I would like to texture some sort of rubber grommet instead for the upper legs. Can't texture though for competition so this one looks sort of incomplete for now. I will probably texture it later for practice and to see how well I can hide the geometry. Any feedback would be great. |

This is the first time I do a challenge. They are kind of fun, so I'm going to try to do some more of them.
If I would need a robot to help me it would something like a couple more hands. So this a bagpack version of helping robot hands. time: 80 min polycount: 2026 (I know, I'm a bit over) ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Sefiroth thats a great idea... you know you can reduce the tri count allot more than you think from what i see... just collapse a couple of a couple of edges... there are allot of great stuff here like Vamediah armanguy and the cool idea of master_f ... but you got my vote unless somebody came up with another great idea.
well i always wish if somebody can scratch my head while i am working... you can call this robot "the head and butt scratcher" lol. ![]() chears ![]()

Here is my Doggybot, for when you're too lazy to walk the dog. Including ball throwing arm and poo-cleaning device.
Box modelled everything. (I used other primitives than boxes, is that still box modelling? :P). I'm kinda happy with the low triangle count, but less happy that I needed the full time for this: 80 minutes. The weird looking dog was done like that intentionally in an attempt to create a bit stylized puppy, not so happy how it turned out though. ![]() Im probably gonna make some more entries for this contest. These challenges are good for training, and I know I need that. |
