Poly Counts??
Hey peeps
Being fairly new to this comp stuff. I was just wondering what score is with the poly counts. I noticed that there tends to be a quite a big range in details with some being particularly high counts for a game model. I'm not saying its wrong or any thing just interested in other peoples thoughts. ![]() |

But it would not bother me if there were poly limits, it would just make it less of a challenge |

I mentioned this way back when speed modelling was getting started. I don't think there needs to be any poly count cap or anything, but when I vote I take into mind polycount and I almost never vote for something that couldn't be a game model, because this is a game art forum.

Edit: After doing some reading in the Regulations & Direction post, I found an answer to the poly count question. "It is entirely your choice how you want to structure your workflow, place detail or decide the amount of tri's you want to use!" Last edited by HamBone; 06-08-2008 at 10:56 AM. |

Hmm, I don't think polycount matters at all really. Want to learn more about lowpoly modeling.. go lowpoly.. want to learn more about highpoly modeling.. go highpoly... That's about it.
And increasing the speed of which you model, low or highpoly, it's still a good thing. Anyhow, my vote goes to HollowIchigoBanki, neat model ![]() Cheers!

I also voted for hollow. I really liked the attention to detail and a real world robot felt right for this competition. I was hoping to join in but this week was quite hectic and I spent it mostly outside with the kids and the rest working/sleeping.
Tats... |
