The fact that this is a game forum doesn't mean at all that you must have only low poly just because lol High Poly Modelling is for games too. Games are made with high poly and low poly. High poly baked to low poly through normal maps (to make it short). Speed modeling with high poly count IS useful and btw SUBDs are not that high in polycount until you apply the subds.

Can't find among my billions bookmarks the guy that I have in mind but you could also just look at this guy here just to wow and stop with this misunderstanding:
CGTalk - Hipoly game models

Just heard of the marriage with CgTalk btw. Not that before that something ever stopped me to be in both forums

I GOT A VOTE!!! XD
Who's responsible for this madness?
now seriously, thanks for recognizing my work.

As a comment, I'd like to call your attention to something: the quality doesn't increase with the time limit! I remember the earlier competitions, and the artwork on them was much better, and with a lower time limit. Why?

What do you actually mean by 'something that couldn't be a game model'?

If you're talking about only voting for low poly stuff I think that is a bit ignorant seeing as any game model these days consists of millions of polygons at least once during the modelling process.

Also, models like cars for driving simulators these days end up at about 200k triangles and that isn't actually low poly. And if I were to make a game consisting only of one person standing in a room I would probably make that person 1 million polygons because that's all you're going to see in that game.

Btw, I voted for Hollow. It was between him and Tiros, but in the end I liked Hollow's design more.

I'm not saying I'd never vote for a hi-poly model, I'm just saying that I'm not looking for how much detail someone can cram into a model in 60 minutes. If there is clearly inefficient polygon distribution, that seems like sloppy modelling. Sure, you can say that it'll just end up in a normal map or something, and I don't disqualify something that has a million polygons or something, but if it could actually be a useful asset in a game that's a big plus to me. This isn't the speed normal map creation contest, it's the speed modelling contest, and since this is a game forum I look for game models, not something that can be baked onto a game model.

Thanks a lot. I am quite surprised that I am 3rd in this challenge.

Anyway I should say that the design wasn't completely my own. I got it from Junji Okubo (IZMOJUKI). I tried not to copy it exactly though.
