one question z-trooper.
how did you manage to make the track template follow the spline in the way you did, making it look like tracks ?

pretty much like shown in this video: FREE 3d Max Tank Tracks Video Tutorial (click "play tutorial" and select "tank tracks")
didnt do it 100% like that, since I've learned a few more tricks to save time, but anyways, it should do the job nicely.

if you look closely at my tracks they are offset in size a few places (its very noticable if you look for it), but it can be solved by spending a bit of time on refining the spline you are following - but that was time I didnt have

first time to post something. hope im doing this right :P
i took longer to figure out how to render a wireframe than i actually worked on the model
took a vehicle from netis link. started with a box for the car, extruded/lathed splines and attached them to the body.

edit: i fail at uploading :/

here is my first entry( may be I'll try a second time in the next few days) , it's an M-113. I've started with a box for the body and used lines to do the track. I really needed more time to add details. anyways, it is a very good theme.

Even though I ran out of time I decided to post anyway. I'm glad it wasn't just me that really struggled with the time limit this time around. I spent 10 mins on the wheels, 10 mins on the turrent and the other 40 mins on the body and details. Then I realised there were a bunch of really horrible vertex and edge problems and it took me 10 mins to clean them up before I could render. As always I used a lot of mirroring and duplication to try and get detail in within a short amount of time...

((On a side note, i'd like to put my vote in for an increased time limit on the challenges. While it's fun to see how much you can accomplish in a short amount of time, I think it forces you to use tricks you already know will work, because you can't really risk the time to try something new. If it was something like 2 hours, you might even have enough time to post a WIP and get some feedback, then use the second hour to improve your submission))

Anyway good luck to everyone, this was a tough one

M557 APC from the movie Aliens. started with a box and refined it, few cylinders for wheels and turret. nothing crazy I would like to spend some time and maybe do it high poly
