I know i'm too late, but nevermind. Hope this isn't too big a necro. I did these yeterday, i'm getting faster already

The siege cannon is missing tonnes of stuff from the reference, probably would have taken me another 45 minutes to complete it. The trebuchet i almost finished, annoyingly I didn't manage to get the bar holding the big arm and the weight in so it looks like it doesn't work. Both took 60 mins in Max 8.

wow. the trebuchet looks awesome! this would have definitely been an entry i would have voted for.

by looking at the cannon though i donīt quite see where the 60 min went. itīs a good entry, donīt get me wrong about that, but compared to your trebuchet it doesnīt stand out so much.

Thanks for your comments. It all went in the big side plate between the base and the cannon itself. I started it in a really stupid way and wasted loads of time finishing it off

I find it easy to stop the timer every 15 minutes or so and re-wrap my head around what it is I am trying to do so I dont lose focus and waste time...then pick back up again...as long as you dont model during the breaks I dont see anything wrong with doing that...

for more challenge i prefer modeling the 60 min nonstop.

what i do though is plan things before i start the actual modeling. I plan in what order to model the whole thing, i think about how i can model the little details the best and fastest way....and so on
I do this while searching for refs or when iīm on the subway or stuff like that
i even try some things in 3d before i actually sit down, set my timer and start modeling.
thatīs btw fascinating how fast you can model when the time is short.

Good workflow I might just write this down and put all those ideas in Rules and Directions thread... something like a "The Tips & Tricks of Speed Modeling".
Would love to hear what others do
