Nice job snake. Though I think you could have saved both tris and rolly time by creating the body out of a cylinder. But, I'm not sure
![]() It's a solid model and the tools seem to be rather well optimized. Also, it seems you got to complete your model before the time was up

reference image when in the end I had a nice reference knife laying almost in front of me. Thats what i noticed after I sumitted my entry ![]() I like the fact that your tools actually fit perfectly into the main body of your knife and that your presented the model in 2 different poses instead of different angles (cliche )hmm, you made me wonder what was actually better to do for the body, creating it out of a cilinder or a box. So i fired up max and compared a cilinder body to my box body. Results: Cilinder Body: Poly Count: 38 Triangle Count: 92 Box Body: Poly Count: 46 Triangle Count: 92 obviously the top and bottom face of my body version uses a bit more edges so more polys, as it is for triangles they dont differ and the difference in time is propably not enough to bother. so for the model time or triangle count it doesnt really matter which of the 2 you choose. Although I must admit that the cilinder version looks a bit rounder. So in the end it just depends on what kind of shape you want to create. :P Last edited by veNoM sNaKe; 19-07-2007 at 01:15 PM. |

![]() Had no idea really, hehe. Well, you could always give it a second go and use your real knife as a reference. It's really great having the real item. Plus, that you already modeleda knife once, meaning, that know you now know how to make the certain tools and save yourself a lot of time ![]()

hey!
You guys thought I was out of this one? Think again !I came from a week's vacation and one of the the first things i thought of was to get my brain and hands ready for this comp! ![]() procedure: any blades you see: extruded planes after playing around with their vertices with chamfer, move, target weld... quite repetitive but it seems to work pretty well; main body: same way, and an array of plump cylinders sightly edited; spring and keychain thingy: spring (dynamic objects) |
