Speed Modeling Competition 2: 015: Modular City

This edition of our SMC marks the return of the modular theme. The idea here is to create assets that could be reused in the creation of a city environment. Thing is, you're only creating three assets to create a small section of the city.

You can submit your ideas for future comps HERE.

Tip: Creativity, optimization, and pushing the polygon and texture limits to the absolute max will really count in the community vote!

Everyone feel free to post your WIPs here in this thread.

These comps are not just about fame and glory,
but also about progressing as an artist while networking in a friendly competitive setting.
Have fun and try something new!

and...

GO!

I wonder there is no Diffuse map mentioned in the guidelines.

@neeraj_pandey - This is just a modeling competition. If you would like to plug your cavity and AO maps into the diffuse, that is okay, but we want participants to focus on modeling for this competition. Don't worry, the contest that follows this will have plenty of texturing

I assume we can spare some tris on one mesh in order to put it on another? (ie: 600/1000/800)

@Leyto - Yes, that will be fine. As long as you do not exceed 2,400 triangles total.

Ok, and is it possible to realise a tiny part of this city, if I have in mind something like 3 modular parts of the same wall?

@Leyto - Yes, you could build a wall with three modular parts. As long as it is recognizable as "part" of a city, you're in the clear. The scale does not matter for this competition, and we won't be too critical on whether entries qualify as a "part of city" or not.

Well here's a little wip from me.

Did a few different models, but decided on a wall, a ground and a lamp post. Just to clarify, is this the kind of thing you guys are looking for in this comp?

I've still got to optimise and unwrap the models and I'm also planning on modelling high res models for normal maps and AO.

Yes, that's precisely the kind of thing we are looking for! You have a creative variety to your assets, and I'm looking forward to seeing the progress
