A little primer to get you started...

Cyberpunk: "High Tech Low Life" (Wikipedia)

What is cyberpunk?
Cyberpunk Review.com has a great breakdown on this particular style.

Movies full of cyberpunk goodies:

Ghost in the Shell

Akira

Matrix

Robocop

Equilibrium

Blade Runner

Other Cyberpunk Firearm Examples:

@Oniram- Yes, that is considered cyberpunk to me. Sweet design too.

We're not being too specific here on the cyberpunk style, everybody. All weapon designs are welcome, and We'll even accept steampunk designs too. However, the contest will be advertised as a cyberpunk competition, so fitting that style well should help you greatly in voting

So there ya go! Have fun with it and punk it up! :P

That's great! im currently working on a project with some friends that is both sci-fi and steampunk mix.. i just told them to stop production on what they were doing (characters and props mostly) and start working on the weapons they were assigned. this is gonna be great.

I'm one of Oniram's team members. I'm gonna be part of this challenge. I'm going to be working on a steam-punk pistol, but i haven't settled on a reference yet. The link above are very helpful though. : D
