heh i kinda liked the theme idea but have a theory it was too restricting (and maybe too challenging at the same time as in creating original quality concepts)

I thought the comp was a bit open ended and not really described properly for many people to get to grips with it. As others said allot of modellers prefer to model off a reference rather than pick a image out of thin air and do it that way.
I did several mock ups but decided I didn't like any of them and gave up.

That was fun! I had to work with a loose concept, myself. I didn't like my design much either, but pushed it until I had something I was happy with. Ran out of time but still ended up with something that I think can be cool with some more work.
