The reason I post my base is so you can see the wires. You can see the wires on the base mesh a lot easier than on the extremely subdivided model in zbrush. If I need to show all the subtools wires from zbrush to still qualify ill show em.
I am pretty sure 3.470 Mil is my tri count for the model... were you wanting the tris on the ship without the water? I am not really sure what your asking for because I thought I had already covered those areas. Please explain what I am doing wrong. ![]() Thanks in advance for looking out for me, dabarker. |

... I didn't just use a modifier on the water... I used brushes and a few alphas in zbrush to make it look the way it does. Tris on the water: 106,626 tris How I made the water: 1) imported brick of geometry from max into zbrush 2) converted it to a z tool and imported it as a subtool to the ship. 3) Using the move brush I moved the brick into the basic wave shape I wanted. 4) I pulled and pinched using the standard brush and pinch tool to create independent waves 5) It was starting to look really gunky so I put one of the poke-a-dot alphas on the brush with the standard tool and pulled the waves out to create a splash effect. 6) I then used the move brush to wrangle the waves. The wood on the ship: 1) My polys on my base mesh already outlined how I wanted to lay down the pieces. 2) I first used the standard tool with (lazy brush on) and a dot alpha. I created the dividing lines for the planks that way. 3) For the fine detail on the wood I used partly the rake tool on a low intensity and a wood alpha. The sails: 1) Imported the sails and turned into a ztool. 2) In the reference pictures there was always a pull on the sail where it was connected to the line. So using the standard brush I created the pull of the sails and smoothed the edges to give it more of a natural look. The tri count on the image is for the entire model, not just the ship. My water [frame] in zbrush: http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f94/Dabarker/water3.jpg Whew... ok. Have you ever used zbrush before Bursch? I would think if you had some knowledge of the program you wouldn't be so quick to think I am using a displacement map. If you haven't used zbrush I recommend you start because it is soooooo much fun. This may look like I am attacking you but I am really just trying to clear up this confusion. ![]() |
