Hey kite, could you please fill me in on how you got such a clean screen grab. That would be much appreciated. Also can anyone elaborate on the downsizing in photoshop. Sorry to be off topic.

hey talon i've tried a few times to click the bottom chain ring but nothing happened. from what ive read in 3ds max help it seems that you need an IK solver in order to apply the ikspline and ive tried your trick with bones and it worked but it does not work with the chain rings.

edit: nevermind. i got it working : ) thanks again btw for that mini tut.

Not that mine compares but I enjoy a challenge, and only been modeling for what 3 weeks :P

Here is my second entry as my first one was a bit 'simple', also based of a real weapon I have hanging on my wall (amongst other weapons :P).

The second one is smoothed

Please try to find things out on your own.
The things you are asking for are not hard to find out.
Just go into your viewport and rotate around the model till you have a decent view.
Now just press printscreen and open up Photoshop.
Paste it in a new document and go to Image - Image Size and just reduce the resolution.

Surprising you guys are going all the way to IK's for chains lol. What I did: take a regular taurus, .5 x, .75 y, .75z. I duplicated them and on every other one I rotated it 90 degrees on I think the Z axis. Then when I was done I just manually rotated the individual ones - took all of 2 minutes. If you're using Maya you could even make a MEL/Python script for it in no time at all.

havent used maya for some time but couldnt you just multi dup the cain part and align it to a path? seems a pain to manually adjust the chain parts

here is a idea i had, the bolts at the front will push in and out with the air pressure from the bottle at the center, the whole thing can be attached to the lower arm
