Looking superb as always Pank, lovely work.
Maybe one small thing. It looks as if you're using an alphachannel only for that edge at the bottom, tbh that sounds like a very expensive thing to do. I reckon it would be allot cheaper to just add 50 or 100 more tris and model that curve. On a 4k mesh that's almost insignificant. Adding alpha however... But other than that, looking neat ![]() |

Looks really nice!
Do you mind telling me what your pipeline was for making this? Did you making your lowpoly in Modo from scratch or just remove sharpening edges from the highpoly? Did you bake your normals/ ao/ specular in Modo? Sorry for all the questions, just getting into Modo's way of doing things, very nice 3d app isn't it? ![]()

Very much so!
For the low poly, I just optimised the highpoly's cage, I didn't really make any new geometry appart from the cables and rubber bits, UV'd in modo, baked all maps in modo, and exported from modo. Chucked in game: ![]() ![]() Last edited by Pankake; 28-07-2009 at 01:04 PM. Reason: new imijez |

Cheers mate, looks really nice.
One thing I'm going to suggest though is perhaps expanding the warehouse, especially the back (the side opposite the opening). With it being quite a simple shape by expanding the back you have a lot more room to do interesting things with, as you can see in one of your references the back has some sort of equipment at the back but as well as that you could have derelict storage shelves around there. Also I think you really need some different contrast in the lighting, one more simple method would be to have some burning oil drums. Although for something a bit more interesting I would think of having perhaps a raised office area with perhaps a green light running inside (But that really depends on your camera angle). Where abouts is this warehouse? And what did it store?

Yeah, the back has quite a large space and I have a few things planned for there, this boiler: http://aaronjclifford.com/misc/images/boiler.jpg
Concept by Mike Brainard (retardedmonkey on here). And some more light coming in from broken holes. Nice idea with the shelving, this kind of stuff will be going into the office rooms on the second floor (you will just see black silhouettes of this junk). For the actual playing area, it's sort of designed to be modular, if I need to, during playtests I can open up more ground to the court (the court will also be made of modules). Honestly, I don't know what this 'warehouse' stored once upon a time, It's sort of a hangar area that might have worked on some kind of vehicle production maybe, not sure. |
