pAldred's 3D Sketchbook

Here I will be posting my 3D work that I'm currently working on. For my first piece is a 3Ds Max Render of a gasoline pump. I still want to add some more detail to it. Like a logo on the red panel. Still have to add to the glow map for the yellow icon and the light bar. Enjoy.

This was my entry for another speed modeling challenge. This one for the cyro-chamber. About half way though it I got the idea to add green. Gave it a nice sci-fi feel to it I think. I also mesh smoothed the 3Ds Max Bi-Ped to put in the tank. it made the human inside look less blocky.

I have a hard time between texturing metal and shiny concrete. I have gotten better at it, looks Like I still need work at it.

Maybe try some smoothening filters or smudge brush for the concrete looking metal? Or lower opacity of some layer that has that concrete look?

The cryochamber looks cool.

Tried the metal texturing again. Made a gate. The model isn't that impressive. Was more worried about the metal texture looking like metal.

Well I think your doing well producing alot of work. It's great for experience. Although I think you need to work on something a little more. Everything looks pretty rushed. I think your methods of texturing are to quick imo and looks like you havn't tried to actually make the real definition of that of a real life texture.

I suggest you study the material of how it would really be and try to actually work more on getting it correct. Also are you using normal and specular maps for these objects?

the overpass (especially the underside) is very good. However, with regards to the door, and the metal gate, I agree with Acid, it does seem as if they just need a bit more work.

I like that the overpass has just the right amount of grunge: enough to make it seem real and used, but not overdone like a lot of art recently.
