TheMegaMasterīs 3D Adventures
Hey guys!
Iīm making my first steps in 3d modeling at the moment, so I decided to create this thread for some constructive feedback and (hopefully) good criticism. My first model is the "FN Scar-L": ![]() ![]() ![]() The model is made with the XSI 6.1 Mod Tool, because itīs a good program to start with. As soon as I know the basics, Iīll switch to 3ds Max. C&C welcome. Greetings, MegaMaster |

That looks very good actually. It got some neat details all around.
Very nice to see. But I would suggest you to make the handle a little more "Round" if you know. Also, I've noticed some incorrect details around on the model. The front sight for example; You've made an 'dot' on the lower side of it, that should be an hole instead. Also on the barrel's end, there should be some holes too. But besides all that, its an overall great model. Very good start. Much better than my first model. +1 |

i have finished a scar-h (in my sketchbook thread) and the two guns are pretty similar... the big bolts you have are just indented, not going out and normal mapping them is what i did..
the front sight doesnt go down the middle but its two bits coming together at the top like a horshoe kinda thing.

in the last image, there's an n-gon showing. Fix it into quads (you can define the shape and make it a lot better if you do it)
Then get those cylinders and do two things: - Reduce the sides of the ones that are closer to the front (only if it's an fps model) - Take the vertex in the middle and either pull it out of the cylinder to define a rounded shape, or remove it to spare one single triangle. EDIT: This applies to all cylinders, even for the scope. If that extra vertex on each isn't defining any shape, take it out. |
